May 16th, 2010 · No Comments · Camping In California

Be it in the park, near the beach, or in the forest, camping on the great outdoors of California is perhaps one of the happiest moments for a family to experience. Camping with the whole family is a great activity for those who love the outdoors and those who enjoy close encounters with nature. In addition, California has some of the best camping locations that you can ever find in the US. Aside from beautiful scenery, its warm temperatures and its great terrain make California a great place to camp out.

Tents Camping

To protect everyone from bugs, mosquitoes, and other elements, you certainly need camping tents. You may opt for big sized tents for the whole family or you can separate the kids on another tepee to have some privacy.

If this is your first time to go on camping and to build tents, do not worry. Camping is supposed to be fun, and it should start with building your temporary home while you are out in the woods.

Good preparation is the first and most important key for successful camping. Before you actually go packing your bags and hitting the road, put up your camping tents in the backyard to make sure that you know how to set them up when you are already on the site. Aside from saving you time, it will save you from a lot of trouble (especially from the kids!) and stress.

What are the things that you need to consider in building tents?

First, you have to find the perfect spot for your tents. Flat, even grounds are ideal locations for tents. Camping on level grounds makes you feel more comfortable during the night. Staying on high grounds, especially if rain is predicted, should also be considered. This will prevent your sleeping bags from getting wet in case of drizzle.

Find tarp or ground textile that you can place on the ground to protect the tent against rocks and other pointy objects. It also keeps the tent dry when the ground is damp.

Now you are ready to set it up.

1.         Lay out all the camping tent components on the ground. Ding this allows you to see everything and reach anything that you need. It also lets you to review if the components are complete.

2.         Spread out the tent canvas.

3.         Get the tent poles and assemble them. Some poles are folded in half and just need to be straightened out. Some poles have to be screwed together.

4.         When the poles are already assembled, match them to the canvas of the tent to determine which poles will slide into the tent sleeves. Some tents have labeling for easier matching and sliding; search if there are lettered or numbered labels on the pole or fabric.

5.         After sliding each pole, connect them to each other. The tent is now ready to be erected. Most likely, the camping tents come with stacks to secure your tents on the ground. Hammer the stacks on the ground to prevent the tent from being blown by the wind and to keep it from moving while you are inside the tent. Finally, zip the tents.

Now, you are ready to camp and enjoy the great California vacation experience!
